Advisory Services
Kek Associates, Inc. provides counsel across five interconnected practice areas. Each engagement is scoped individually — we do not offer fixed packages, and we describe our capabilities here so you can judge for yourself whether an outside perspective would be useful.
Organizations rarely face a single, isolated problem. A question about strategy often has financial implications; a question about operations often reveals gaps in governance. For that reason, our practice areas are designed to work together rather than in isolation, and many engagements draw on more than one of them at once. What follows is a description of how we think about each area, not a menu of deliverables.
Strategic Advisory & Planning
Strategic advisory work at Kek Associates, Inc. begins with a simple question: what is this organization actually trying to accomplish, and does its current path lead there? We help leadership teams and boards clarify objectives, evaluate the trade-offs between competing priorities, and structure the analysis behind major decisions — whether that involves entering a new market, restructuring a business unit, evaluating a potential partnership, or simply deciding where to focus limited resources over the next several years.
We approach strategy as a discipline of asking better questions, not producing thicker binders. Our work typically involves structured interviews with leadership and key staff, review of relevant financial and operational data, and facilitated sessions designed to surface disagreements that often go unspoken in day-to-day operations. The result is not a static plan meant to sit on a shelf, but a clearer, shared understanding of the choices in front of an organization and the implications of each.
Financial & Managerial Consulting
Sound decisions depend on reliable information, and many organizations operate with financial reporting that technically satisfies compliance requirements but does very little to inform management decisions. Our financial and managerial consulting work focuses on closing that gap — helping leadership understand not just what the numbers say, but what they mean for the decisions in front of them.
This practice area covers budgeting and forecasting discipline, cost structure analysis, margin and profitability review by product line or division, cash flow visibility, and the design of internal management reporting that leadership actually finds useful. We work closely with existing accounting and finance staff rather than around them, with the goal of strengthening internal capability rather than creating long-term dependence on outside advisors.
Operations & Process Improvement
Inefficiency rarely announces itself. It accumulates quietly in duplicated approvals, inconsistent handoffs between departments, manual work that could be simplified, and processes that were designed for an organization that no longer exists in its current form. Our operations practice is focused on identifying where that friction lives and designing practical changes that stick.
We map how work actually moves through an organization — not how it is described in a manual, but how it functions in practice — and identify where risk, delay, or unnecessary cost is introduced. Recommendations are deliberately practical: we are conscious that any process change has to be adopted and sustained by the people doing the work, not just approved by the people managing them. Improvements are typically phased, so that organizations can absorb change without disrupting day-to-day operations.
Risk, Compliance & Governance Advisory
Every organization carries risk — financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational — whether or not it has been formally identified. Our risk and compliance advisory work helps leadership and boards understand where that exposure sits, how significant it actually is, and what governance structures are appropriate given the organization's size and complexity.
This includes reviewing internal controls, assessing governance structures at the board and executive level, evaluating compliance obligations relevant to a given industry, and helping organizations build the kind of documentation and oversight that stands up to scrutiny from lenders, insurers, regulators, or auditors. We are not a substitute for legal counsel or a licensed audit firm, and we work alongside those professionals as needed — our role is to help leadership see the fuller picture of risk across the organization.
Organizational Development & Change Management
Strategy and structure only produce results when an organization's people are prepared to carry them out.
Structure & Roles
Evaluating whether reporting lines, decision rights, and role definitions match the organization's actual needs as it grows or changes.
Change Planning
Sequencing transitions — leadership succession, restructuring, or new systems — so disruption to daily operations is minimized.
Adoption & Communication
Designing the internal communication and training that determines whether a change is genuinely adopted or quietly ignored.
Our organizational development work sits alongside the other four practice areas rather than apart from them: a strategic plan without an execution structure is just a document, and a redesigned process without staff buy-in rarely survives its first difficult week. We help organizations think through the human side of change with the same rigor applied to the financial or operational side.
